As a business that’s been professionally offering eyelash extension services to Sydney, Fairfield and Parramatta residents for years, we can safely say that we’ve heard every myth there is to hear about getting eyelash extensions. There’s plenty of misinformation out there, so we can hardly blame the average person for not knowing what’s true and what isn’t! To make sure that you have the right information, we’ve put together some of the most common myths we hear and debunked them.
Myth #1 – “Eyelash extensions will make me look ridiculous.”
Many women assume that all eyelash extensions are dramatic creations, designed for use for dramatic events or theatre acting. While it’s true that you can choose this look you can also opt for one that’s incredibly subtle. If fact, there’s a good chance you’ve admired someone’s naturally full lashes that were actually extensions. Remember that eyelash extensions are customised to you and not the other way around. They can be as subtle – or bold – as you want them to be.
Myth# 2 – “Eyelash extensions can make you go blind!”
The media is full of horror stories where people go for routine beauty treatments and come out scarred for life. Dig deeper and you’ll discover that most of these people had the misfortune of selecting a less than reputable salon with unqualified beauty therapists using off-brand products. A quality salon will never place your extensions without doing an allergy test first.
Myth# 3 – “Eyelash extensions are a waste – they barely last a few days.”
Nobody wants to spend their hard-earned money on extensions that will only last a few days. With Eyelash extensions this fear is common. The longevity of your lashes is within your control and if you follow the aftercare instructions provided to you, you’ll find that they last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks before beginning to thin out. Beware of salons promising lashes that last for longer than this, as it’s probably a scam. Your real eyelashes don’t even last that long!
It’s natural to be a bit apprehensive about trying eyelash extensions but in all my years of applying them I’ve never had a single customer regret them afterward. Now that you know the truth, you can go ahead and book your appointment.
